Nunslaughter – Satanic Chaos Legions
2 listens in and it's everything you'd expect from Nunslaughter. Heavy. Loud. Blasphemous. I have, of course, heard of Nunslaughter prior to this album, I really should have went to see them in Calgary last year, easy to say now that I've heard this album. I did not however realize they had a close to 40 year history, first demo released in 1987. This is the bands 6th studio album and if this is any indication of what their previous albums are like I have some serious listening to do.

This album absolutely rips from start to finish, well almost. The acoustic Intro track doesn't, but that's not to say it doesn't fit. It's like the calm before the blackened death thrash storm. There are a couple slower tracks, but they still enough of a Black Metal feel to them that they don't feel out of place on this album. You can hear so many influences in these songs, it's hard to not get sucked in and listen to it back to back to back. With a 29 minute run time though, you can. Love the album art, but not sold on that chrome effect on the logo or the title, just makes them difficult to read. I'd have loved to see them in a contrasting colour and then tucked a little smaller into that top left corner.

I know that many of you will dig this album, I just couldn't finish it. It came out with an extremely strong opening and then lost me with the first belt of the Power Metal style duet vocals. I can tolerate them in some sections of the album but then they just go to that operatic level and I'm reaching for the skip button.

The Wolf I Feed – Brainwashed EP
I mean, even if you don't like this one, if you can't get through it you must have the attention span of a flea. Reminiscent of some Napalm Death tracks, I really dug this EP. I didn't realize I was into the 3rd track at just over the 1 minute mark but then the 3rd track just had an entirely different feel, almost early punk, so I had to have a look. Just listen. I'm sure some will love it, others will be wrong.

Into Everblack – Misery Archives
There are some good riffs and groove on this one, I'm just on the fence. I'd need a few more listens to get a better feel on if I'm fully into it or just a few tracks. Some of it just sounds disjointed to me, like a mix of styles that just don't quite blend.

I think they need to throw a Brutal in front of that genre. I know, I know – I'm genre focused, I like things in boxes, you should see my office and studio. If you're a fan of the heavier side you're going to dig this one. I'm not sure about the choices for the snare on this album, someone tell Lars we have a new winner for most annoying snare sound. I'm sure he'll find a way to win back the crown on the next Metallica album. It's not just the snare though, there's just something in the mix on this one that I can't get into it and I'm normally a huge fan of this heavier shit.

Fatal Punishment – The Great Leitmeritz Massacre
All of the old school Thrash fans will find something to love on this album. Personally the vocal styling is a fence rider for me. I can almost overlook it, sorry I'm just not a fan of the high pitched vocals doesn't matter if they're this style or the Power Metal style. My friends were all listening to Judas Priest when we were kids and I was listening to early Sepultura. What save the album for me and brought it up to a Good Enough To Finish rating is that the nut cracker vocal style isn't all the way through every song.
