Pseudobiblion – Index I
An odd opening on this one. The more Italian Death Metal I hear, the more I want to visit Italy and take in a week of underground shows. The level of creative freedom and expression on this album places it into a top listen this year for me. I still love the standard old school death metal being released, but experimentation like this keeps the genre interesting.

Mouflon – Eros & Thanatos
OSDM vocals blended with a mix of chunky, sometimes groovy, riffs. The production is perfection. Everything sits right where it should, nothing overpowering or muddy here. I flip-flopped back and forth between my top rating and 2nd, but landed on 2nd. While I thoroughly enjoyed every track on this beast, no thoughts of skipping any track, there just wasn't anything that took it over the top. It's an incredibly well written and produced album, just no unique elements to push it over the edge for my top rating.

Frolic – Legacies Of Cybernetica
This just completely rips from start to finish. While I'm not normally a fan of the vocal styling on many thrash albums this one hits just right for me. It's not in that nasally, high pitched realm – more like an even little demon. It's not all shredding either, there's some killer groove blended in now and then that keep it interesting.

Mortem – Mørketid
While not an English album, this is one of those albums that the language just doesn't matter. You get pulled into the riffs, the sound of the vocals, the emotion. I found myself just lost in the music.

Necromatter – Sick and Twisted EP
I almost didn't post this one. Not because of the album, but the album cover. I was unable to fin an artist source and question it's legitimacy. Can't rule it out as AI artwork and I really just can't promote a band using AI for their artwork. As I was unable to confirm though, I chose to add it to the list. Nothing over the top here. It's not stellar, but also not utter shit. A couple sources call it an EP, others call it a full album. At 6 tracks and just under 19 minutes, I agree with the latter.

Dethlot – Welcome to the Hell Resort
Just plain "Welcome to Hell" might have been a more suitable title, depending on your tastes. It's extremely rare that I can't make it through an album, but here we have it. I cut this one off mid-way through track 5. It's repetitive, boring and misses the mark on so many levels. Lyrics filled with cliche phrases. I'm not sure where the "melodic" part of the album starts, but it must be after track 5 somewhere.
