Mayhem Releasing Liturgy Of Death – Out February 6th

Norwegian black metal legends Mayhem will return early next year with their seventh full-length album, Liturgy of Death. The record is described as a stark and unflinching reflection on mortality, powerlessness, and the human condition, delivered through the band’s unmistakably raw and aggressive sound.

Liturgy of Death captures the same grim intensity that cemented Mayhem’s legacy on De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas and Grand Declaration of War, yet pushes further into the psychological and existential themes that have haunted their music for decades.

The first single, “Weep for Nothing,” turns death’s inevitability into a twisted revelation. Its blinding speed, chilling riffs, and suffocating atmosphere show a band still capable of commanding terror through precision and restraint rather than nostalgia.

With Necrobutcher, Hellhammer, Attila, Morten, and Ghul operating as a cohesive and sharpened unit, Liturgy of Death is both a continuation and a challenge to their legacy. Forty-one years since forming in Langhus, Mayhem remain one of black metal’s most vital and fearless voices.

To coincide with the album’s release, Mayhem will embark on a month-long European trek this February under the banner Death Over Europe. Full tour dates can be found below.
